Classics of SA | Mo's E30 325i

While there are many classics out there, not many looks as good as this Brilliant Red 325i.

I wanted to bring more content, besides car news, to this website. So I will now be talking about classic cars, in general, and I will also get in contact with classic car owners and have a conversation about their cars and come here and talk about it. Enjoy!

The start of the E30 dream

At the time of taking delivery

Mo took delivery of the car back in late-2015. At this time the bodywork was in good condition, but ever since Mo has been using this car as a daily as this is his only car, and unfortunately at his place of work there is no shade parking, so currently, there are a few touch-ups needed. Along the way there were a few mechanical issues and fortunate enough, the car is currently mechanically sound.

The car in it's current state

In terms of a body kit, the kit currently on the car is a custom one. Starting by the front bumper we have a 325is moulded lower bumper, the rear has an E34 M5 diffuser and the side skirts are custom with the "slits" at the end. The interior is black in colour and in the front it has E36 M3 german spec vader seats. And yes those wheels are genuine Lenso Eagles.

Under the bonnet is the M20 (325i engine) but it's not completely stock. We have the 2.5/2.7 cylinder head with 277 split 288 camshaft with Cowley branches, K&N filter with 535i airflow meter. The current gearbox is a 325is Getrag gearbox. Ratios and Diff are stock.

Plans for the future

Plans the owner has for the future are: Turbo charge the current M20 motor with a T63 turbo and 1000cc injectors running with a management system, or doing a complete engine swop with an M50 motor and turbocharge it.

Overall this car definitely turns heads, and you could definitely start your own car guard fan club with this car. The glorious sound the M20 motor produces is like non other. As a package, this is definitely one of the best classics to own in South Africa.

I'd like to thank the owner, Mo, for taking out his time to answer my questions.
